Ooooh a tutorial! It’s been a while since I made a “tut” and I hope that I’ll fare just as fine here in PassTheSauce like how I did in my make-up blog.
Step 0. Wait…

wait…wait…

and wait some more for your dinner mates.
Step 1. Choose your shabu shabu.

Step 2. Boil the soup base.

See that red button? Press that ONCE.
BTW, I love how Healthy Shabu Shabu uses electric stoves controlled by a remote console instead of traditional LPGs. The stove and cords are hidden hence making the restaurant a safer place for kids.

Once the soup base has boiled, throw in the vegetables that require longer cooking time (like the sweet corn and yam in the vegetable platter above). Add in some of the leaf vegetables, beancurd, meatballs, and tofu. Make sure that you take these out of the boil before 30 seconds or you’ll end up getting soggy and overcooked goodies. After taking the four ingredients out, toss in the vermicelli noodles (thin, pre-cooked noodle). This quick cooking noodle (it’s already done in 30 seconds) is best enjoyed with the leaf vegetables you previously took out.

Step 3. Crack the egg. There are two ways to enjoy the egg:

Add the yolk to the special barbecue sauce, chopped garlic, onion, chili, special sauce base and spices Healthy Shabu Shabu provides. Doing this makes the sauce richer.

Beat the egg and pour over the beef or lamb just before cooking. Soak the meat for a while then proceed with step #4. Doing this will make the meat more tender and delicious.
Step 4. Add in the seafood or meat.

For seafoods: Toss in the crab, lobsters, and shrimps first to ensure rich soup flavor. Fish meat should be done within 5-10 minutes.
For meat: Add the meat when it reaches the boiling point. Take a slice of meat and swish it back and forth in the boiling soup. Cook it for a few seconds.
Step 5. Add in the egg noodles.

Take the meat out of the hot pot and cool in the sauce. Toss the egg noodles in. While waiting for it to be cooked, you can now devour on the goodies you prepared earlier. Should you need more egg noodles, you can request for free.
Step 6: Repeat process until you’re so full.

Don’t forget to skim off any foam or impurities (aku) that rise to the surface as you repeat cooking and eating meat.
