Migraine to go

I was cleaning up my multiply site earlier when I chanced on this silly thing I did sometime October last year: eat one chocolate cake every single day. After the third day, I had to take a sick leave because my migraine and vertigo’s kicked in! I resumed my little craze shortly after I came back from this short vacation in Singapore. I had to quit after two cakes because my migraine’s paying me another visit. Check out the babies I’ve had:

Starbucks’ Heaven on Earth
I like this cake only because of the delicate coconut taste. The base is too wet and the mousse had a strong buttery taste (something not very good with chocolates).

Starbucks’ Roca
I loved this the most out of the three mini cakes from Starbucks. It doesn’t hurt that I am a fan of almonds! ;)

Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf’s Toblerone Cheesecake
I quote from my Multiply album:

My verdict: get it only if you have a VERY, VERY, VERY sweet tooth and you’re a serious fan of Toblerone. I find it too blah. The base seems like Oreo followed by (something that tastes like) choco mousse then comes in this cream cheese filling (prolly 30% cream cheese + 70% heavy cream). Oh and yes, topped by chopped Toblerone (original).

***

Starbucks’ Chocolate Pistachio
I shared this with my mom in one of our “Fridates.” While the pistachio flavor’s quite faint, we liked how the mousse was prepped just right (not too airy nor heavy). The chocolate’s pretty rich so this cake’s best shared with another chocoholic!

Black and White Cheesecake (light version) by Cheesecake Etc.
Good texture. Moderately sweet. Really bad texture (it’s almost mousse like).

Looking at the photos alone’s making my head ache! How about you? Do you have any silly takes on food like me? Share! :)

Passion Feeds Passion by Unilever Foodsolutions

Good news to all chefs, caterers, and local food service professionals! Armed with our very hungry stomachs, Jayvee and I rushed to Cirkulo Restaurant last April 1 to check out Unilever Foodsolutions’ latest offering. While much do not apply to me since am not (yet heeeheee) working in the kitchen professionally, their new website got me all hyped up!

You can submit your own recipes (make sure you create an account!) and download the ones submitted by the other foodies (yes, it’s not restricted to food professionals). The site is still on the works but a handful of recipes (found in the “Fresh Inspirations” page) should keep you busy for now (I am so drawn to the Grilled Lamb and Mesclun!)

Press kit is found under the cut.
